With Take-off! 1 you’ll learn to play some great melodies with a range of just seven manageable notes. The pace of learning is reasonable and can be adapted to the individual pupil.
On your journey into the world of music all the tunes are played in unison, meaning that all instruments play the same. There are six ‘pit stops’ with musical games and puzzles to help you read music, train your hearing and develop a sense of rhythm.
For oboe, French horn and Eb horn students it can be quite difficult to work with the same seven notes as the other wind instruments at the beginning. For this reason, all the pieces for oboe—and the first 17 pieces for both French horn and Eb horn—are arranged as an alternative part that’s easier to play. At the end of the horn and oboe books the same pieces are also written out exactly as played by the other instruments.
At the end of the flute book, the pieces are written out again but at a lower pitch. Pupils who struggle, for example, to close all the keys for D, or who find the move from F to Eb difficult, can play these pieces instead. These are the same alternative parts that are written in the front of the horn and oboe books.
The given chords for accompanying instruments can be used by the teacher or an experienced pupil to provide backing on the keyboard or guitar. Beginners on these instruments can play the melody along with the rest of the ensemble.
The student’s book includes a CD of all the pieces in two versions: one played by the whole orchestra and another with just the accompaniment—to which you can play the melody yourself. The audio is also provided as mp3 files on the CD that can be played on a computer.
All songs on the CD are also available on Spotify, iTunes, Deezer and other streaming and download services.
The enclosed CD is an important study tool that enhances and completes the material contained within the book. The bandleader should make good use of the audio in rehearsal and it should form an integral part of individual practice too. The CD is just as important for learning as the book itself.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
